Where do I park and how much does it cost?
There is no charge to park at any of Martha Jefferson's facilities.
Main Hospital - Please feel free to use our complimentary Valet Service located at the Cardwell Center entrance. There is also parking surrounding the entire hospital campus.
Outpatient Care Center - There is ample parking available close to the main entrance.
Proffit Road - There is ample parking available close to the South entrance where the medical imaging services are located.
Where do I need to check-in before my exam?
Main Hospital - Please enter at the Cardwell Center entrance and check-in with the front desk.
Outpatient Care Center - You will be greeted by a friendly volunteer at the front door who will point you in the right direction. Radiology is located on the first floor of the building and the Womens' Center is located on the third.
Proffit Road - Enter through the South entrance of the building and check-in at the front desk.
What should I bring with me to my appointment?
Please bring a photo ID, your current insurance card(s), and a list of all medications you are currently taking.
Do I need to arrive early to my appointment?
Yes, please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to allow time for registration. For some exams, you may need to arrive earlier depending on the preparation requirements. If you have any questions, please call (434) 654-7130.
How long will my exam take?
The length of the exam depends on the type of appointment you are scheduled for. Your exam could take just a few minutes or it could take a few hours. Please see our exam descriptions for more information. If you still have questions, please call (434) 654-7130.
Who should I call if I need to reschedule my appointment?

How do I obtain access to my images and/or exam reports?
You may request a copy of your images as well as your medical records by filling out an authorization form allowing us to release your private health information. Your doctor will also receive a copy of your report via fax or online.
Is the radiation used in X-rays, CT scans, and Nuclear Medicine tests harmful?
X-ray and CT exams use radiation to make images of the body. X-rays are safe and effective for people of all ages. Patients have an X-ray or CT scan only when their condition warrants more information than a physical exam can provide. Our radiologists take great care to use the lowest radiation dose possible to produce the best images for diagnosis.
The dose of radioactive material given for nuclear medicine tests is very small, and there are no known long-term adverse effects.
If you are pregnant or suspect you may be pregnant, inform your doctor before having an X-ray or nuclear medicine test. In general, exposure to radiation during pregnancy should be kept to a minimum. Your doctor may decide to use another imaging test such as ultrasound.
